Have you ever had that moment where you have simply had enough of the news? That moment where the pundits are going on and on about something for no other reason than they need to fill airtime?

Before last week, I never thought about the 24x7 news cycle from the perspective of a young person entering the field. How do you prepare to be as visible as the politicians or celebrities you may cover? How do you become beat the best to a breaking news story on Internet time?

The Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication is cracking the code on creating an engaging and relevant educational experience for the “digital journalist of the 21st Century.” By using lecture capture as one of many technologies integrated in their curriculum, they are giving students round-the-clock access to their education in the era of the 24x7 Learning Cycle. Perfect for a generation of backpack journalists (those reporters in the field who create news packages from soup to nuts - film, post produce, write, anchor and publish in their news packages…).

Check out the video that the Cronkite School produced about lecture capture at: www.echo360.com/asucronkite.

PS – Special thanks to Sasan Poureetezadi who coined the term “24x7 Learning Cycle”. Love it!
